Being the fanboy that I am, I am waiting for the reissue package for Bruce Springsteen’s Darkness on the Edge of Town to emerge on November 16. Nearly bought HBO for the sake of seeing the documentary, The Promise, but seeing what my cable overlord charges for such things, I can wait.
Typically when songs get left an album, there is a pretty good reason. I’ve gotten a little more objective about as a little more than half of the Tracks box set goes unlistened to, but I remain curious about the 21 songs coming out in the Darkness package that never saw the light of day. One of my favorite songs from the era is “Racing in the Street,” so to hear this version was interesting, but I prefer the familiar arrangement.
No rationalizing required, still gonna buy it.
