Artpark‘s slate looks pretty good for the coming months. Set aside the fact that all these folks used to be a lot more expensive (Okay, it looks like the Learning Annex presents Classic Rock), this ain’t bad.
I don’t have any trouble with them charging a little to moderate the crowds. One of the downsides of so much free music is there is sometimes a heavy population of folks there just to be there, not to hear the tunes. I’m not the biggest fan of going to a venue to watch tv either. So, $5 to see Steve Miller or Peter Frampton with like minded souls, I’m down with that.
The Tuesday concert lineup includes:
June 19: Kansas.
June 26: Foreigner.
July 3: Huey Lewis and The News.
July 10: Sublime with Rome.
July 17: YES with Procol Harum.
July 24: Heart.
July 31: Steve Miller Band.
Aug. 7: Peter Frampton.
Aug. 14: Sheryl Crow.
Aug. 21: Roger Hodgson, the voice of Supertramp.
Aug. 28: The Machine performs Pink Floyd.
Sept. 4: The Charlie Daniels Band.
It’s funny because with the recent arts groups trying to get some money from the city there is a lot of griping in the Buffalo News Forums about how those groups should strive for self-sufficiency. Well, here’s Artpark doing just that and folks are carping on what was once free has a bit of a charge to it.
Never seen Yes, gonna change that.
